The Huntington Museum of Art is offering a free informational Docent Open House on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, from 6 to 7 p.m. for those who are interested in becoming volunteer art and nature tour guides. Refreshments will be served. Docents gather on Monday mornings at the Huntington Museum of Art during the fall and spring for informal art training sessions with the staff members of HMA’s Education Department. As part of its Fourth Tuesday Tour Series, the Huntington Museum of Art will present a free guided tour of the new exhibit titled The Visual Elements – Line Presented by Edward Tucker Architects, Inc. on Sept. 27, 2022, at 7 p.m. HMA docent Fred Almeida will conduct the tour, and refreshments will follow.
HMA will conduct its 7th Annual Fine Art Auction fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. as an online and in-person event. A preview of the auction items takes place at HMA on Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The museum is proud again to be partnering with Garth’s Auctioneers & Appraisers of Columbus, Ohio, for this event. The works included in the sale were consigned by generous members and supporters of the Museum. The works are available for viewing now on the Invaluable website at https://www.invaluable.com/catalog/xeytaamvvn A buyer’s premium of 15 percent will be added to all successful bids executed in-house, and a buyer’s premium of 25 percent will be added to all successful bids made on the Invaluable website during this event. On Sunday, November 27, 2022, the Museum Store at HMA will participate in Museum Store Sunday, an annual holiday shopping day supporting cultural institutions and their stores. This year, more than 1,800 museum stores representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia, 24 countries, and five continents will celebrate Museum Store Sunday and offer unique gifts for the holiday season—with all purchases supporting its parent institution and the artisans and craftspeople who create many of the gifts found in museum stores. HMA's Museum Store will offer extended shopping hours on November 27, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and free admission for all museum guests that day. Expect exceptional discounts on merchandise at HMA's Museum Store from many of our local, regional, and international vendors. In addition to discounts, HMA's Virginia Van Zandt Great Hall will be filled with local artisans selling their wares from noon to 4 p.m. Museum Store Sunday offers an excellent opportunity to support local artists as well as HMA.
