There is no need to pre-register. You can drop in to one or all; $20 per session. Come and enjoy learning from these accomplished artists. September 17, Plein Air Painting with Sandra Reed, Studio 2 Sandra, Marshall University’s Director of the School of Art & Design, will demonstrate plein air painting. Popular with the Impressionists, plein air painting, also called open air painting, involves a painter reproducing the actual visual conditions seen at the time of the painting. September 24, Wildlife Painting with Chuck Ripper, Studio 2 Chuck is an internationally recognized illustrator. He will demonstrate his unique skills in painting wildlife and explain the difference between watercolor and gouache. October 1, Collage with Mark Tobin Moore, Studio 2 Mark, Professor of Art at Concord College, will discuss the history of collage in fine art, show some of his own collages as well as other artists’ work. Attendees will have some fun making their own collages. All materials are provided. October 8, Watercolor with Lisa Walden, Studio 2 Lisa has been teaching watercolor at the museum for more than 25 years. She has mastered the watercolor process and will demonstrate her techniques and invite hands-on participation. All materials are provided. October 22, Black & White Photography with Larry Rees, Studio 3 Larry has been involved in the photography field for decades. In HMA’s dark room, he will demonstrate how to make a black and white print from a negative. Watching the image appear on the paper is magical. October 29, Glass Lampwork with Emily Stark, Studio 2 Emily is an artist and a teacher. She will demonstrate, through the lampwork process, how to create unique glass beads. By using a variety of glass and metals, she will show techniques in layering and forming. November 5, Clay Sculpture with Mike Bowen, Studio 4 Mike teaches at Shawnee State University and Marshall University. He will bring work that is already underway and will demonstrate his techniques of constructing sculptural forms out of clay. November 12, Mixed Media with Vernon Howell, Studio 2 Vernon will demonstrate his meticulous and detailed process of creating scenes and situations with varieties of materials and techniques.
